Map and ranking methodology

One reviewed country registry powers the server-rendered list, country pages, map IDs, and public ranking. The canvas is an enhancement; the complete list remains the accessible source for country selection.

Map source and receipt

The atlas is a product-owned derivative of the Natural Earth 1:50m Admin 0 release, pinned to repository tag v5.1.2 and commit f1890d9. The countries and disputed-polygon themes carried in that tag report theme version 5.1.1. Their immutable inputs and SHA-256 hashes are recorded in the versioned map manifest.

The build keeps only the reviewed 50 countries, rounds coordinates to five decimal places, removes unused public properties, and emits same-origin GeoJSON. No basemap, tile provider, vote total, sponsor, price, or rank is embedded in geometry.

Boundaries and disputed areas

Boundaries follow Natural Earth v5.1.2’s default de facto editorial view. Display does not imply recognition or endorsement.

Kosovo remains a full roster and ranking participant while its polygon stays neutral. Eight reviewed disputed-area polygons render as a separate neutral gray overlay and never carry a country ID, vote intensity, or mutation target. Tiny countries retain their real geometry and receive labeled callouts instead of enlarged borders.

Ranking states

Only a country with a genuine accepted vote becomes an activated participant. Shared vote totals receive shared competition ranks; the next rank skips accordingly. A country that has never activated says “Not activated yet.” Test-only ranking fixtures never enter public data.

Round states and final receipts

Live totals come from accepted current votes. After voting closes, the same public routes show a clearly labeled provisional result while integrity review is completed. Finalization publishes an immutable snapshot with the roster, rules, map, rank, vote, KPI, and timestamp receipt. Country pages remain noindex, follow until a genuine non-zero accepted state makes them eligible; a recorded integrity override can keep a country out of search.
